At some point in the future more formal amalgamations between the City and the District are possible.
In the meantime, the two Councils will take every opportunity to share services where there are shown to be financial savings or other benefits. Any formal amalgamation would only be pursued if there were proven benefits of efficiency, effectiveness and local democracy.
